COREFI Te Alimenta – Community Meals Program

Nourishing Lives, Strengthening Communities, and Serving with Love

COREFI Te Alimenta is a community-based food assistance program dedicated to combating food insecurity and promoting dignity, health, and well-being among vulnerable residents of Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Established by Concerned Residents for Improvement, Inc. (COREFI), a nonprofit organization serving the community since 2008, the program provides freshly prepared, nutritious, culturally appropriate meals to low-income families, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, homebound residents, and other community members experiencing food insecurity.

Our Community Impact

Through our community kitchen and the dedication of staff, volunteers, and local partners, COREFI provides approximately 750 meals weekly, including:

  • 600 hot meals delivered weekly to vulnerable residents throughout Vieques.

  • 150 additional meals distributed weekly through our community meal pickup service.

  • Home delivery assistance for seniors, homebound individuals, and residents facing transportation challenges.

  • Meals prepared with familiar Puerto Rican ingredients, honoring our island's culinary traditions.

More Than Just a Meal

COREFI Te Alimenta is about more than feeding people. Every meal represents compassion, human connection, and a commitment to ensuring that no neighbor feels forgotten.

For many seniors living alone or on fixed incomes, our meal deliveries also provide valuable opportunities for social interaction, personal connection, and informal wellness check-ins.

Our community kitchen serves as a center for volunteerism, food education, community partnerships, and opportunities for residents to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of their neighbors.
