Our MISSION

DOOR TO DOOR AID FOR THOSE OFTEN OVERLOOKED

COREFI has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service to be a charitable organization described by section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code. COREFI provides direct services to disadvantaged and underserved communities in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Established in 2008 as a response to the overwhelming amount of neglected residents, we have been working hard to provide solutions for our most underserved citizens. Currently, we are assisting hundreds of residents on a regular basis with critical services and basic human necessities. Without social security numbers, Medicare, or family support, the majority of those that we assist are unable to access government funding and live far below the poverty line. Many are ill, bedridden, or physically unable to leave their homes.

We build ramps and accessible bathrooms, repair damaged roofs, deliver food and water, and provide life-saving medicines.  Learn more about Our Team and join us to Volunteer.

Our COREFI team is almost 100% volunteer operated. We believe that access to food, water, shelter, and medical care is a basic human right. Your donations go directly to those who need it.  After Hurricanes Maria and Irma, the Island's needs are greater than ever, and rising due to lack of jobs and tourism.

OUR IMMEDIATE NEEDS:

  • Support for door-to-door humanitarian work
  • A new Food Bank
  • A new truck
  • Goods and services

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE:
COREFI will continue to expand services in the in the wake of these storms. In addition, we hope to establish an integrated services facility with a community kitchen, showers, laundry services, and rehab support.

We’re proud of our community partnerships with independent relief programs, like Vieques Love and Hope Builders, that were created in response to Maria and that are receiving charitable grants and contributions through COREFI in this time of crisis.  COREFI will continue to partner with organizations like Humanity First to provide direct humanitarian aid.
